Installation of Zebra ZT200 Series Industrial Barcode Printer
The installation of the Zebra ZT200 series industrial printer is easy from start to finish.
Factory Settings
Your ZT200 series barcode printer arrives with predetermined factory settings. Many of your printing applications will work with these settings with little more than set-up of communications. A few heat setting and speed adjustments may be needed.
Media-Related Settings
First, select “Media Type”
- Continuous
- Non-Continuous Gap, Notch, and Black Mark
- Direct Thermal, or Thermal Transfer
- Default setting is Non-Continuous Gap/Notch
Next, choose “Print Method”
- Thermal Transfer (default setting) or Direct Thermal.
Last, set your “Print Mode”:
- Tear Off (default setting), Cutter, or Peel.
Printer Calibration
Zebra printers are pre-programmed to calibrate each time the printhead is raised. The gap sensor (red light) finds the gap between each label. This gap determines label length.
Media Loading
Ribbon setup
A ribbon is only used for a thermal transfer label applications. A ZT200 direct thermal printer will not require a ribbon. Click here to see “how to” videos. These videos help you properly load the ribbon in the ZT200 series thermal transfer barcode printer.
Print speed
Printer speed is measured in inches per second (IPS). Slower print speeds typically produce better print quality. Be sure your media is designed to work at the print speed you’re using.
Printhead Heat Setting
Your ZT200 series barcode printer is shipped at a predetermined printhead heat setting. Depending on the type of label material, you may need to increase or decrease the printhead heat setting. Changing the heat setting may result in poor label imaging. Unclear imaging may led to inaccurate scanning. Also, a high setting may cause the ribbon to burn through and damage your printhead.
Communications Setup
The ZT200 barcode printer has five connectivity options: USB, Serial, Parallel, Wired Ethernet, and Wireless.
