Why Consider Fanfold Barcode Printer Labels
There are three varieties of barcode label diecut options:
- Flat sheet laser labels such as address and name tag labels.
- Roll labels for many purposes.
- Fanfold labels.
Fanfold barcode labels should be given consideration for the following four reasons.
To begin with, fanfold labels are available for thermal transfer or direct thermal printing.
A second reason to consider fanfold barcode printer labels is that they come in stacks and lie flat (as shown above). Because they lie flat, they consume much less valuable storage space than an 8″ OD roll of labels.
- Fanfold barcode labels lie flat, print, and are able to be refolded by hand (if necessary) as they come out of the printer. Please keep in mind the perforation is for tearing and not necessarily for restacking.
Label handling is an additional compelling reason to consider fanfold barcode printer labels. The end user in a warehouse environment will appreciate:
- The ease of handling after they are printed and refolded.
- The lack of possible label curling.
- The need to save or recycle a core.
The fourth benefit of fanfold labels is increase in productivity when using a desktop label printer.
- Most desktop printers hold roll labels with a 4″ outer diameter.
- A roll of 4″ x 6″ labels may contain only 400 labels.
- One stack of fanfold labels contains 2000 labels thus reducing downtime.
Uses for Fanfold Labels
Like any label format, fanfold barcode printer label uses are limited only by your imagination. Barcode Southwest recommends the following five uses.
- The first use is address labels.
- Shipping labels are the second possible use.
- Third, would be box-end labels.
- A fourth use is heavy print tag stock for product identification (such as animal feed bags).
- The printing of event tickets is a final use for this type of fanfold material.
